Making Terrific Steak Sauce Out of a Prime Ribeye!

Imagine a thick and juicy prime ribeye sizzling on the stove and its aroma making your mouth water. It’s one of our favorite cuts of meat to cook, and if you’re like us, you surely savor every bite! The thing is, no steak is complete without an equally delicious sauce to go with it. Sure, you can go for some A1, but why not make your own? Here’s how to make a flavorful sauce out of those steak drippings.

Choosing Your Sauce

Choosing Your Prime Ribeye Sauce

The sauce for the recipe below comes from cooking a steak on a stove, preferably on a cast-iron grill. The runoff browned bits and juices are the base that you can drizzle over your steak once you’re ready to eat.

When cooking any steak, you don’t need many ingredients. Salt, pepper, and maybe a little butter are all you need. But for a steak sauce, you’ll need:

  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard
  • ½ a cup of white wine or beef broth
  • 1 minced shallot
  • 1 teaspoon of fresh thyme leaves
  • Drippings from one to two cast-iron fried steaks

Directions

  • After you’ve cooked your steaks in the cast-iron grill, remove them and drain the fat but don’t wipe down the pan.
  • Turn your flame to medium and add the shallot and thyme. Cook until both are tender.
  • Add the wine or broth and scrape the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon. Cook for about a minute.
  • Stir in the mustard and turn off the heat. Continue stirring while mixing in the butter and the sauce will thicken.
  • Serve your steak, top it off with the sauce, and enjoy!
